Install Saal

Keep Saal with your apps and launch it in its own window. Sign in with the same ChatGPT account to keep your rating and progress.

On your computer

  1. Open this page in Chrome or Edge.
  2. Look for the install icon in the address bar, or open the browser menu and find the app installation option.
  3. Choose Install.

On a Mac, Safari also offers File → Add to Dock on macOS Sonoma or later.

If your browser does not offer installation, you can keep playing in the browser.

Internet connection required. Installation adds an app shortcut and window. You still need to connect to sign in and play online, where your rating and progress are saved.

The guided tutorial explains each piece through moves you make yourself. Puzzles offer further practice across ten difficulty levels.

Ranked games

New players begin at 0 Elo and advance through the desert ranks. Reaching the top 100 requires at least 2,250 Elo and ten completed rated games.

Practice and spectating

You can practise against bots without affecting your rating, or watch games to see how other players use their pieces. Rated AI opponents are clearly labelled, and those matches do affect Elo.
